Take the complexity out of payroll taxes with practical guidance on reporting and compliance.

This workshop will provide resources from both the Federal and State to instruct the employer on their responsibility to correctly withhold payroll taxes and how to prepare quarterly and annual reports. It will provide general information regarding taxable and non-taxable payroll deductions, examples may include but are not limited to workers’ compensation, retirement, tax shelters, section 125 plan deductions, etc. This workshop will assist and provide attendees with resources on both the federal and state requirements for quarterly and annual reporting of payroll wages and taxes. Attendees will gain understanding of how to prepare Federal Forms 941, Schedule B, Federal Form 941X, Federal Form W-2, State Forms DE9, DE9C, DE9ADJ, State Unemployment Forms DE9423 and DE938SEF.

Brenda Boothe retired in 2018 after a 33-year career in school business, specializing in payroll and retirement while serving two fiscally independent school districts and the Contra Costa County Office of Education. She has also consulted as a Payroll Adviser for two software companies and has been presenting payroll and retirement workshops for CASBO since 1996.

Associate Member Conference Attendance Policy

Purpose To ensure a fair and consistent experience for all participants at CASBO conferences and to maintain the value of sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities for associate members.

Policy Statement Associate Members who are not exhibiting or sponsoring at a CASBO conference are not permitted to attend the event as regular attendees.

Details

  • Conference attendance for Associate Members is considered a benefit tied to active participation as an exhibitor or sponsor.
  • Only Associate Member firms with a confirmed exhibit booth or paid sponsorship are eligible to register representatives for conference access.
  • Associate Members without an exhibit or sponsorship may not:
    • Purchase or obtain standard attendee registrations
    • Access sessions, meals, networking events, or the exhibit hall
    • Attend on behalf of or in partnership with another exhibiting or sponsoring organization
  • This policy ensures equitable opportunities for participating partners and protects the value of conference engagement offerings.

Exceptions Any exceptions to this policy must be reviewed and approved in advance by CASBO leadership.

Enforcement CASBO reserves the right to:

  • Deny registration requests that do not meet the eligibility requirements
  • Remove individuals from the event who attend in violation of this policy
  • Revoke or limit membership privileges for repeated violations
