Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM AST

Join CASBO and FCMAT for an important discussion on the gift of public funds, ethics and financial abuse in California public schools. Explore the distinction between public and private purposes, allowable and unallowable expenditures, and the critical role board policies and administrative regulations play in protecting public resources.

Drawing on 38 years of experience, Michael will share real-world examples of governmental financial fraud and abuse from his work auditing school districts, conducting forensic and financial fraud examinations for districts and their legal counsel, and serving with FCMAT.

You may be surprised by what qualifies as financial abuse. Come away with practical insights to help you recognize potential issues, strengthen financial safeguards and support responsible stewardship of public funds.
