The AI in School Business Micro-Certificate is designed for school business professionals who are already experimenting with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and want to move beyond basic prompting to more practical, reliable applications of AI in their daily work. Through a live, hands-on learning experience, participants will develop the skills to work more effectively with AI while understanding how to use these tools responsibly in a school business environment.

This six-session program moves from AI foundations and security into increasingly sophisticated applications, including AI workspaces, document and spreadsheet analysis, custom assistants, skills, and agents. Rather than simply learning new prompts, participants will practice applying AI to real workplace tasks and develop reusable approaches that can improve how they research, analyze information, and complete everyday work.

Designed for participants with some prior experience using generative AI, the program combines instructor-led demonstrations with hands-on practice, learning labs, peer sharing, and optional office hours. Each session builds on the previous week, culminating in a capstone project where participants create an AI skill around a real task or workflow from their own role.

Program Format:

• 8 hour-long live virtual sessions
  • 6 lessons featuring demonstrations held Tuesdays from 12 to 1 pm
  • 2 learning labs for hands-on practice, peer sharing, and questions held Thursdays from 12 to 1 pm
• Optional daily office hours for personalized support and question
• A capstone AI skill project based on one real task from the participant’s work

Program Access Information:

On the program start date, participants will receive an email from sbu@casbo.org with course details and learning materials.

Participants should have access to their own paid subscription to an AI platform such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for the duration of the program. Free accounts may reach usage limits during live sessions or restrict access to features covered in the program, limiting participants’ ability to fully participate.

Participants should also be familiar with their organization’s data privacy and technology policies and comfortable working with common workplace technology, web-based applications, documents, and spreadsheets.
