Governor Newsom recently reviewed a series of education bills, and we’re proud to announce significant outcomes directly shaped by our collective advocacy.

Firstly, AB 1699 (McCarty): K–14 classified employees: public postings for vacancies, was vetoed by the Governor. This triumph is a testament to the resounding voice of our 30,000-strong membership. Each Call to Action, consultation with Legislators, dialogue with the Governor’s advisors – every effort contributed. We stand grateful not just to our dedicated members, but also to our allies: ACSA, CSBA, School Services of California, and California County Superintendents. Together, we forged an unbeatable coalition.

Similarly, our united stance on SB 433 (Cortese): Classified school and college employees: disciplinary hearings, resonated with the Governor leading to its veto. Your unwavering commitment to spotlighting the potential challenges for school districts was pivotal.

While we championed many causes, AB 579 (Ting): Schoolbuses: zero-emission vehicles, was signed. We remain optimistic and are actively collaborating to ensure its successful implementation.

Our community’s passion and dedication continually shape California’s educational landscape. For inquiries, our Government Relations team is always here to assist.
