Formerly known as Payroll Essentials, CASBO’s School Business Payroll (SBP) Certificate is an intensive, two-and-a-half-day program designed for experienced payroll and fiscal professionals who want a deeper understanding of the laws, regulations, and compliance nuances that impact California school payroll operations.

This program goes beyond basic payroll processing to help participants navigate complex scenarios, reduce compliance risk, and apply best practices across payroll and retirement systems.

Across 2.5 days virtually or in-person, you’ll engage in a live learning experience designed to empower you to develop practical, real-world skills on:

  • Computation from gross to net pay
  • Compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Best practices for adhering to education code, labor law and tax requirements
  • CalSTRS and CalPERS retirement reporting requirements
  • Common payroll pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • Processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and accuracy

Plus earn 18 CEUs (continuing education units) to further professional development and a certificate upon completion.
