CASBO Business Executives Leadership (BEL) Program image

CASBO’s CBO Business Executives Leadership (BEL) Program is the only program of its kind designed and led by working CBOs to foster the next generation of school business leadership in California’s changing educational landscape.

The program provides participants with the practical knowledge and skills needed to fast-track their career and a path to qualify for CBO certification. Curriculum offers in-depth learning on core CBO disciplines, such as:

• Finance
• Budget Development & Accounting
• Communications
• Leadership & Operations
• Human Resources

Additional benefits include:

• Ongoing updates to address current hot topics & industry trends
• Networking with school business colleagues & leaders across California
• Eligibility to take CASBO’s CBO Certification exam

Two tracks are available to choose from:

• Accelerated CBO, a 6-month program for school business professionals currently employed at an LEA as a CBO or equivalent position for a minimum of 1 year.
• Aspiring CBO, a 9-month program for school business professionals currently employed at an LEA as a new CBO or as a director (or other senior role) reporting to a CBO for 1-5 years.

Tuition & Payment

Tuition is $6,750 for members or $8,750 for non-members.

Full payment must be received by the specified cohort payment deadline to confirm participation in the program.

Payment plans are not accepted. Payment options include:

  • Credit Card; or
  • eCheck; or
  • Paper check (received by CASBO by the deadline).

CASBO does not offer scholarship programs at this time. Please discuss financial support with your supervisor, human resources, CBO, school or County Office of Education prior to applying.

Please Note: Registration at the CASBO CBO Symposium, November 21-22, 2024 is included in program tuition. Travel and
lodging for the CBO BEL onsite program dates are not included in program tuition. Additionally, tuition does not cover the cost of the certification exam after program completion.

CBO Certification

Successful completion of a CASBO CBO Business Executives Leadership Program satisfies the requirement to sit for the CASBO CBO certification exam (additional fee).
