On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Governor Gavin Newsom announced his action on the final bill of the 2025-26 legislative session, marking the conclusion of the legislative session and his time as Governor of California. In total, the Governor acted on 1,160 bills this session and 7,803 bills since taking office in 2019.

Of the bills that reached the Governor’s desk on which CASBO had a position, 10 of the 11 bills we supported and requested his signature on were signed, while 3 of the 7 bills we opposed were vetoed. Below is a detailed list of the outcomes for all 18 bills.

In 2026, CASBO engaged on 56 measures, ensuring the perspectives of school business leaders were part of the policymaking process. Thank you to everyone—especially our Legislative Committee members—who contributed insight, data, and support throughout the year. Your engagement helped strengthen CASBO’s advocacy on behalf of California’s school business leaders.
