With schools well into implementing the first year of the Local Control Funding Formula and its associated Local Control Accountability Plans, now is a good time to consider how well districts are meeting the state’s eight educational priorities, especially parental engagement. Toward that end, CASBO is offering the following video to assist its members in effectively meeting this major component.
Gov. Jerry Brown has made clear that parent engagement is a key component in achieving not only the other priorities but absolutely necessary for the success of all students. Even though we are still early in this process, the California Department of Education will be required to check for authentic and thorough implementation of this component during monitoring reviews.
