Recently, we invited our members to join us in our first crowdsourcing effort, and we want to remind interested parties who haven’t yet applied that the window to do so is closing soon!

We’re seeking volunteers from among our CASBO membership to support us by serving as members of topic-specific planning groups designed to create and produce tools and other resources that will support local education agencies experiencing not only customary, but pandemic-specific challenges.

What It’s All About

As an example, we might seek soon-to-retire CBOs who can help us create an “aspire to retire” career path program, or welcome anyone interested in the legislative process to sit on an advocacy group that provides tools for LEAs that want to impact legislators on issues affecting public education, or tap into accounting and marketing/communications professionals who can help us create tools designed to address declining enrollment.

This member-driven effort will provide us with much-needed assistance for these and future initiatives that are designed to harness the knowledge, experience and talent of our 25,000-member base to develop programs that will provide support and resources to all of our California LEAs … and today, we’re announcing the first two programs that will kick off our inaugural crowdsourcing effort!

College Recruitment Program

CASBO is in search of members interested in designing a college recruitment program for school business. The work is scheduled to begin in January 2022, and interested parties should expect to meet once monthly, for a period of two hours, for three months (for a total six-hour commitment). The program is intended to develop a recruitment plan that includes defining project objectives, planning actions and activities, developing a budget, determining staffing and resources needed, and providing a list of targeted colleges. The work begins in January. (Click here to apply.)

Staffing Ratio Publication Program

CASBO is in search of members interested in working on a staffing ratio publication for school business. Phase I (the initial work) is scheduled to begin in January 2022, and interested parties should expect to meet once monthly, for a period of two hours, for three months (for a total six-hour commitment). The program is intended to develop a publication that encompasses and describes available school business job positions and areas of discipline. The work will include defining project objectives, determining key resources and approach, and developing a budget. (Click here to apply.)

Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

While we’re not requiring any specific qualifications to serve, we would be thrilled if you have some type of experience in the topic. For example, if you’ve ever participated in any type of college recruitment activities, or have similar experience related to that topic, and you have innovative ideas on what our program as described above will need to be successful, that knowledge would be not only beneficial, but welcome!

And any level of current CASBO member – organizational subscriber employee members, retiree members or honorary life members – is welcome to participate! (If you’re not a current member, but you’d like to be part of this innovative effort to support California LEAs in the work they do for our students and schools, please take a look at our membership options and make plans to join us!)

If this sounds like an interesting and rewarding opportunity, and you’d also relish the chance to become more involved in the CASBO network, please complete the specific program volunteer form and submit it to us no later than Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

We look forward to working with you!
