Today, May 13, 2021, the California Department of Public Health announced that families and legal guardians can schedule vaccine appointments for young people aged 12-15 using the statewide booking system MyTurn.ca.gov.
The expanded eligibility was granted after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup released their recommendations yesterday.
The decision came after a thorough review of the evidence from the clinical trial of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine concluded that the vaccine is safe and effective to be used for the age group 12-15 to protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death.
